Gil Basketball Academy
About
GBA’s mission is to support the youth of East Salinas “shoot for and reach” positive goals by participating in an organized basketball academy. GBA targets youth from 4 to 17 years of age. GBA aims to “hook” kids” at a young age and sustain them throughout their childhood and teens; especially during the years when they are most susceptible to high risk behavior and gang turmoil. One of the primary goals is to teach youth about basketball. The larger goal of GBA is educational - to teach our youth how to become healthy, productive, and contributing citizens of the community and help them build the internal and external assets they need in order to be caring, competent, responsible, and resilient. Moreover, part of this goal is to expose our youth to life beyond Salinas; GBA has been invited to compete at the international level this summer in Costa Rica and plans to help our youth travel to Costa Rica in June 2012.
